institutions.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Mr. CAMPBELL submitted the following concurrent
resolution; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Expressing the sense of the Congress that all Chinese
people, including the people of Taiwan, deserve to be represented in international
institutions.
Whereas the people of Taiwan enjoy a free economy with the
19th largest gross domestic product in the world yet that economy, due to political
difficulties, is not represented in world economic fora;
Whereas the people of Taiwan have the 14th largest trade
economy in the world and the 7th largest amount of foreign investment in the world and
hold one of the largest amounts of foreign exchange reserves in the world;
Whereas the people of Taiwan are committed to the economic
and political norms of the international community;
Whereas the denial of representation to the people of
Taiwan from international institutions weakens the ability of those institutions to speak
for all the people of our world and is unfair to the people of Taiwan; and
Whereas such representation would not affect the
international legal status of the people of Taiwan or of China: Now, therefore, be it
